Bamboo straws do have a limited lifespan, especially if they are not finished or cured. Bamboo is a natural, organic material, it will eventually begin to fray and splinter, even when well cared-for. This is simply what happens to all natural materials. The good news is that when your bamboo straw is worn out, you can toss it in the compost pile instead of the garbage can, assuming it hasn’t been treated with any chemicals. There, it will break down naturally, instead of creating more mass in a landfill.
